Bedroom Tax Protest Yesterday

Recommended Posts

That's been the case for years mate.. I was once told that the money the local authorities received from the sale of their properties was supposed to have been used to fund the building of more properties. I reckon most of it goes on paying their executive officers, our presiding officer is on more money than the prime minister.. The c**ts even get to vote themselves pay rises every year, even now when they are cutting the money of most of their lowest paid and part time workers..

Sorry to disagree Mr.Mod, but when Thatcher began the sale of Council houses all those years ago, the laws were constructed so that proceeds could not be used to replace the properties sold. Therefore the stock of social housing (where rents are controlled!) is greatly reduced. These new measures are an extension of that policy ie designed to further undermine and weaken the availability of social housing, and also include plans to pay housing benefit directly to the tenant who then pays the landlord (think we can all see a hole in that plan!). Followed to it's conclusion these policies completely destroy social housing which is then farmed out (like almost everything else) to a private, profit-making landlord. Education and health are also being chipped away in this fashion. Thatcher would be proud of you Mr. Cameron !!

now theres a bit of knowledge for you

I know what you're saying, but, labour had a chance, lets not forget, thirteen years to build affordable homes and didn't.

Thirteen years in which they allowed every scumball from the world over to take opportunitys, jobs and housing from the working class people of Britain. I might come across as a tory mate, I'm not, I hate them, just so happens I hate the two faced labour bstards more.

It's not the selling of social housing that has caused the problem, The people that bought the ex council houses still live in them, or have sold them on and moved into another house, If they hadn't bought them at the reduced rates they wouldn't have been able to afford to buy, so would still need the house if it hadn't been sold.

It's the lack of house building plus the rise in population and immigration that has caused it. Supply and demand. More people needing fewer available houses means prices increase, which means more profits for the big companies that do build houses, which in turn means more brown envelopes plus taxes for the government of the time.

Trouble is, it backfired when house prices became unrealistic due to demand and because people need a place to live, they borrow way above their limits, which the Banks kindly lent them, that in turn led to repossessions, many of which were bought by the wealthy at a fraction of the full value and privately rented out at ever increasing rates that tenants eventually couldn't afford due to wages not keeping in line with rent increases. (supply and demand again, Too many people for too few jobs, so lower wages)

And now we find ourselves in the situation where the average wage can't buy or privately rent the average house, so people look to social housing for help, but of course, there are nowhere near enough, so the government can turn round and say if you have a spare room, pay more or get out, knowing full well there is no where to go. Check mate to Mr & Mrs Average wage earner.

Or at least that's the way I see it. ;)

Wait a minute if people don't look after there council houses there scum, but if they do them up look after them which in turn makes there neighbourhood a better place they shouldn't be doing that either? What are people supposed to do with there council houses?

This is just another nail in the coffin of ripping apart what's left of string traditional communities along with the rest of the social engineering what's going on. They might be owned by the council but where did the council get the money to build them from ?

Your taking it a bit personal. I don't get why someone should get a free house and council tax when they are fully fit to work. So going back to my first post, I think on the whole the tax is a good thing. Why should someone who gets a free house, have a spare bedroom?? It's free so stop moaning lol

Cheers,buddy !! Sometimes a rant just isn't enough.

The maths is really simple, but the results will be catastrophic.

Bedroom tax + direct benefit payment + benefit cap +"re-assessment" = social cleansing.

Large numbers of city-dwellers, particularly in London, are being priced out of their homes, so that Westminster property prices will rise accordingly ! This will also affect rural populations too (as in my case) as rents are disproportionately high in these areas. Same outcome. No-one is safe ! If this policy is deemed to be a success, mark my words, it will be extended.housing benefit , a great deal of which is claimed by working people, will be cut further and further, and more and more will be unable to pay their rent, so they too will be forced to move to an area to which they are "more suited". Just call them "ghettoes" and be done with it !
