Fretwell 59 15
I find that if I still feed him when he has the runs he have the for days were if I don't he will be fine within 24 hours but when he ant been feed he don't go out on a walk or anything he just stays on his bed Quote Link to post
LaraCroft 863
They used to say don't feed anything at all if they have vomiting/diarrhoea - now they think that a light diet of chicken and some boiled rice is good to make sure the dog gets some nutrients, while giving the gut chance to settle. To be honest, if mine are upset, they often choose not to eat anyway - but I offer and see. Quote Link to post
Gaz_1989 9,539
My dad used to swear by a starve day. I don't know why. He would starve himself, the dogs and his canaries every Sunday. I don't know why except it was just how he was brought up. I don't do it. I feed twice a day most days. Quote Link to post

LaraCroft 863
I can see the logic - wild dogs don't always eat everyday - and I think a lot of carnivores are historically designed to eat a large meal every so often rather than a normal sized meal regularly. But that isn't how they are kept now, so I suppose things change and adapt. (Not sure about your Dad though Gaz - what happened to having a proper roast on a sunday ! ) Quote Link to post
low plains drifter 10,700
starve days where trialled on captive wolves, and were found to have a detrimental effect,as for detox, whether human or animal we have internal organs that deal with that better than any gimmicky potions, dont believe the hype,it's all about lining someone else's pockets, but if you ever fancy a hosepipe and 5 gallons of strong coffee pumped up your back door, dont let me put you off atb Quote Link to post
