Scope Mount Size For 50Mm Objective Lens

Hey guys,

I'm looking to put a Hawke Sport HD IR 4-12X50 AO on my Weihrauch HW99S but don't know whether i'd need medium or high mounts, any advice would be greatly appreciated,

should be a nice little set up you have there. ive had 2 hw99s both had a 3-9x 40 scope and never let me down.

get a pic up then when you got the scope on mate .

I have that scope and I need the high mounts mate.

All depends on how high the scope rail is above the barrel. I've just swapped some high mounts for medium ones with Davyt63 for my Hawke Digi Nite Eye 4-16x50. It fits with a couple of mm space over the barrel. Usually best to mount the scope as low as you can, its certainly helped my eye alignment enabling my head position to be more comfortable and above all, consistant

I have the Hawke 3-9x40 AO IR on medium mounts on a HW95 but it's difficult to get the front bikini cover on.

 

(Actually I'm tempted to cut a section out of the cover to avoid scratching the barrel).

 

For that reason I agree with other posters in that high mounts are probably the better option for a 50 mm objective.
