Blackbriar 8,569
I saw a TV programme this morning about the RSPCA, which has made me reconsider (yet again) an organisation that I used to respect. They received reports that 2 men had been seen removing swans from a park. Someone followed them home and passed on the address. Inspector attends but, of course, no-one speaks English (they are all Romanian), so she doesn't get very far, but does see a large pot cooking on the stove. On further investigation, she shows viewers what is clearly a swan's head, though the feathers are charred. An English speaker arrives and she puts these concerns to him, and wants to know what is cooking (it is way too large to be a chicken or duck). He claims to have bought it from a shop, but he says he doesn't know the English name for the bird. She looks around the garden, where she finds a bin bag full of large white feathers. Again, she questions them about the bird in the pot - the guy repeats that he doesn't know the name of the bird, but again insists that it is shop-bought. Suddenly, he remembers that they bought a goose and took it to the park for the children to chase (!) before bringing it home, and says this is what the witness saw. So, in possession of a swan's head, a very large bird being cooked, a bag full of white feathers and a witness account putting the men at the scene, she does her little speech to camera - where she says there is insufficient evidence ! She goes back into the house and tells them that stealing swans "is bad", and that if she has to come back they " will be in trouble" and "have to go to court -not good". Not even a caution - just told off like a naughty 6-year old ! She leaves suggesting you can't win them all and I am left in stunned silence ! What do you have to do to get into trouble these days ?????

events co-ordinator 353
Instead of blundering in had the police been called they could have gathered all the evidence and made a case she had no power at all she was simply grandstanding for the Cameras and f ed the whole process by her incompetance. When a CRIME is comitted it's the Police who should investigate it.
