Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
thinking of spraying one of my guns just for hunting. dont really care what it looks like as long as its camoed with a dull finish so it isnt shining and scaring quarry away in bright sunlight. dont want to spend too much just want something cheap and cheerful. any help tips or advice will be appreciated. any alternatives to spraying it would be considered. also its a hw97 so i need to be able to cock and load it easily, aka nothing in the way of the loading port or the underlever.. cheers SKoT Quote Link to post
Lewis Ste 245
Why not just get it dipped? Or the camo wrap tape so in a couple of months you look at it and say why did I do tht you can just take it off Quote Link to post

gurtwurz 792
I did my with aa bunch of matt acrylic paints from a shop in brighton that specialises in graffiti kit, cos they do a massive range of shades and colours. Its not so much the paint that you need to get sorted since most car sprays wil do the job, what you need to get sorted is a a good matte varnish to finish it off with otherwise you'll be resisting it every 6 months or even sooner. If you know anybody who does car body work they'll be able to tell you the best and toughest stuff to use. I used a craft varnish and I'mgonna have to redo mine again soon because its already coming off. Doh!! Quote Link to post

darkdd81 36
Hey Skot I did my tx last year, and if you do decide to go the permanent route, this is what I did. Get this paint form Halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchCmd?srch=camo+paint&action=search&storeId=10001&catalogId=10151&langId=-1 Get kaki, brown and olive green, and some primer plus meths or cleaner of some sort and some masking tape. Next, remove action from stock and scope/mounts from action and give a good clean using the meths and get all grease and oil of the surface. Then very carefully mask all areas that you don't want paint on ie. comp tube, trigger housing, dovetails etc..... I did my scope and mounts also. so masked off mag adjuster ring, zoom ring and lenses. Next, (no rubbing down needed) give the action, mounts, scope, stock a light dusting of the primer. let it dry for 30 minutes and repeat 3-4 times. Next, go and grab a handful of leaves, twigs, weeds and bracken or any kind of foliage. Next, give the dried components a full coating of any of you chosen camo colours. This will be your base coat. Give it three layers as you did the primer. Let it go off. Grab your foliage, and drop randomly over all the components. From 1-2 fee away give a light dusting of spray from one of the other chosen camo colours. Repeat this process 2 times for all three colours, making sure it is a light dusting each time. Peel off all masking tape before paint is 100% dry and leave for 1-2 days in a nice warm place. Rebuild and you have a fully camo'd rifle with a completely matt finish, military style. Check out some of the pics of the full military rifles done in this style on Google. Sorted Apologies if this is all a bit jumbled, had a couple of beers while I watched England just get destroyed by wales. Gutted!!!!! 1 Quote Link to post
