weasle 1,119
Rings look alright to me,Might be a bit light though,Thats ok on open burys but when your trying to set one at arms lenght under a black thorn hedge i find a bit of weight in the ring helps. Quote Link to post
bjay 21
I have some old nets here with nylon curtain rings on. They work just the same as any other ring. I was ferreting a lot of sand dunes at the time and the salt in the sand would rust the normal rings in a season so I tried the nylon ones. Worked just fine. TC Funny you should say that about curtain rings i was talkin to a old fella the other day 73 years old been ferreting once a week on average since 13 years old , And he reckoned they used curtain rings years ago ,, The ground around were i go in aust are mainly sandy coastal areas ,, Still miss the places i went as a kid around derbyshire Like has been said before you could tie nets with no rings at all ,, But its interesting as everybody has there own way of doin things b Quote Link to post
paulus 26
obtain some fence straining wire drill a small hole in a brush handle and insert the end of the wire, wrap the wire around the handle to form a spring, chop the rings off the spring with wire cutters, close and solder in a vice Quote Link to post
