Well,22 pages on a man that no-one seems to have a good word for other than enjoying his early books,I met Plummer on many occassions at a mates farm and he was always odd,to say the least,he suffered

His books were the only ones of their kind in the seventies and eighties, and I must have owned and read them all. They were entertaining and to an impressionable teenager the 'facts' were often dige

Like it or not Nathen was good because it was written about a subject he was well versed in, as were a couple of his other books.

The rest were the result of his great capacity to listen, remember and write and his very active imagination.

But I agree with others, he got a lot of kids onto the fieldsport path at a time when it had started to die.

A few things he wrote didn't measure up to first hand experience, I wonder the controversy and criticism his works would attract if published nowadays with the Internet transparency.

Yes writers can bullshit. It comes with the territory. For me, separating fact from fable is part of the fun.

I have fond memories of Friday nights in the eighties.  My two boys  and me would compete for the Shooting News where Plummer was star man, along with Daergi and old Phil on  here. Then we would get fish and chips and a VHS film.

Not forgetting Tiswas on a Saturday morning. They had their slapstick and I had that eye candy woman whose name escapes me.??

If you knew him, truly knew him you would know, he understood ferreting with a dog well enough, he understood fox digging and catching the odd rat and dog fighting.

The rest well lets leave it at that.

What do you think she saw in the Royal  multi- millionaire Edward?

Edward was a luvvie, theatrical, were there "rumours" about his sexuality? The "marriage" must surely have been arranged to give him a veneer of normalcy ?
