The rest were the result of his great capacity to listen, remember and write and his very active imagination. But I agree with others, he got a lot of kids onto the fieldsport path at a time when it had started to die. 2 1 Quote Link to post

A few things he wrote didn't measure up to first hand experience, I wonder the controversy and criticism his works would attract if published nowadays with the Internet transparency. 6 Quote Link to post
jukel123 8,567
Yes writers can bullshit. It comes with the territory. For me, separating fact from fable is part of the fun. I have fond memories of Friday nights in the eighties. My two boys and me would compete for the Shooting News where Plummer was star man, along with Daergi and old Phil on here. Then we would get fish and chips and a VHS film. Not forgetting Tiswas on a Saturday morning. They had their slapstick and I had that eye candy woman whose name escapes me. 2 5 Quote Link to post

If you knew him, truly knew him you would know, he understood ferreting with a dog well enough, he understood fox digging and catching the odd rat and dog fighting. The rest well lets leave it at that. 1 Quote Link to post
