Dan McDonough 560
He had me at Rouges and Running Dogs. It's why I got interested in lurchers. Here in the US there are not many lurchers around in the whole country and certainly not where I grew up (in a suburb of St. Paul, Minnesota). If I would have had that book when I was a teenager, I certainly wouldn't have been doing much of anything else. Whatever Brian Plummer is or isn't, I'm very thankful that he was interested in sharing what he knew. His world of dogs has reached across the world and made many people more than happy to sit in one spot for as long as it took to read what he wrote. He seemed to be a humble man intent on staying that way and living a life the way he wanted to. It's hard to fault a man for that...particularly when he shared his knowlege with so many people that did not have the advantage of having a mentor. If he were alive today, I would go to see him in person to tell him how much I appreciate what he wrote. He may or may not have been the best...it really doesn't matter. He was great. 3 Quote Link to post
