My mum had me like that mate, the babysitter let me have a fag and I smoked a bit but chucked the rest in the wicker bin.. Next thing it's on fire and burnt the carpet a bit... Tried a cover up to no

Monkey, Sandy and Pigsy ring any bells ??? Is it just my school that made you cover your exercise books in wallpaper ?? Christ, some of the patterns !!!

Cottonknocking, then the bloke in the house wising up and running in the direction the cotton was going from his door knocker. So next time we looped it heading away from our hiding place, round a lamp post then back towards our hiding place. Never forget the look on his face as he charged out of his front door and right up the street. Only for us to jump out and shout him from 20 yards to the left down the street.

Slowest lad caught a good thick ear that evening.

..and hedge hopping, used to love a bit of that! :D I once did the Fosbury Flop over/through a 4ft hedge at the side of the round when I was round my mates.. As I was half way over, my mate shouted "Noooo!" I looked down and saw the fecking hedge was planted at the top of a very steep bank, it was about 8ft down to where I finally hit the deck in a heap!:laugh:

Whats the craic with those lido things up there Wilf, are they just open to whoever fancies a swim or a sunbathe? :hmm: Went to go to one close to somewhere called Parliament Hill years ago when I was up there with a mate but it was about to shut. Got nothing like that round here, the whole thing was a fecking mystery.. Mind, everything was a mystery in that mental place, everything totally overawed a simple country boy like me! :icon_redface::laugh:

Don't live in London any more so I am not even sure they still exist with all the health and safety, some kids got polio from the one across the road to me when I was a nipper.......I never fancied getting in them anyway.

My old man learnt to swim in the quays where they used to unload the ships!!......f**k knows how he survived, a kid fell in the Thames when we was on a school trip once and had to have his stomach pumped !!

This was late 70s early 80s

Didn't just have them in London. We had one when I was a kid in Bulwell in Nottingham, but they pulled it down and built a .......swimming pool !The irony was completely lost on the Council. I had a couple of mates who swam in the river by Trent Bridge - when i was a lad, it would hve been easier to walk across it !!!

All coming back to me now..... red hot summer of '76, skin-tight Speedos ( I was about 6 stone lighter then! ), the life guard blowing his whistle then shaking his head at you for "bombing", lying in the sun with Denise Mitchell........f***ing joy !!! For a brief moment I was 13 then !!!

Used to do a lot of bridge jumping into the thames as a young teen, hampton court bridge, staines bridge, richmond bridge.

Was tempted to in town, but never did.

My dad learned us to swim in the local fishing harbour where he also used to swim when he was younger..it's not there anymore as it was destroyed when the pound sign's kicked in a the mariner was built for all the posh yacht's and boat's..we also used to go to richmond regular..(easby abby) and swim in the river and jump of the bridge..

I can remember one time when we went in the little old Minnie..and my brother swam right out in a deep bit and decided to shout i'm drowning.. :icon_eek: ..so my dad had to dive in and swim out to him...when he got to my brother he said i'm ok now.. :D :D ..so back to the river bank they swam and my dad had to empty his pound note's out of his pocket to dry on the rock's in the sun..but his ciggies where ruined..and that was all because my brother had watched Jaws a few day's before and panicked..
