reaper1064 285
How refreshing, I commented on this thread in the early days recognizing the skill that has gone into the shot he made. Then I waited for the battering for him making a shot over 40yrds. The reason for this is this is what would happen on any of the other sites. It's nice to see that his skill in range finding and knowing his kit has been recognized and not slated. 1 Quote Link to post
Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701
I think people frown upon shooting past say 40 yds so people dont go around injuring things. i was confident of my rangefinding, knew my aimpoint and the conditions were good. i was in a good prone position rock steady. if at any point i had doubted myself or my kit i wouldnt have squeesed the trigger. it was either going to hit its head, or totally miss the bird.. i wouldnt normally shoot that far, and wouldnt reccomend it, there isnt a lot of room for error the further the range but as i said i was feeling very confident. Theres some good people and very good shooters on this forum. cheers mate SKoT 1 Quote Link to post
darkdd81 36
Well said Skot. Last year, I had my personal best long range shot with a rabbit at a lased 69 yards. Like yours, or was a miss or kill situation. It was a perfectly calm summers afternoon with a very slight left to right breeze. I was lying prone with my hw100 on the bipod and the rabbit was in an undulation in the ground so all I could see was his ears and the back of his head. I'd already been practicing out to 70 yards so I know all my milldots. With 4 mill dots holdover and a touch of windage adjustment and the pellet connected just behind the eye and the rabbit rolled over stone dead. You don't forget shots like that and when you know you have the kit, conditions and the ability, I don't see anything wromg with the occaisonal long shots. Well done again Skot. 1 Quote Link to post
