low plains drifter 10,690
Used chudley's greyhound food in the past, dogs looked well on it,Red mills Tracker is a pretty good option as a supplement to meat as it is a low protein feed with a higher carb content
LaraCroft 863
If you already feed raw, increase the amount of fatty stuff like lamb breast. Pasta also helps add condition, as does oily fish.

BORDERSCOT 3,816
Feed raw with complete added and use Gain, Red Mills and Chudleys on a rotation kinda thing - variety and all that - protein depending on how busy we are...
boyo 1,398
try gain but if your feeding meat as well use the 20 not 28 as the protien will be to high .
BORDERSCOT 3,816
try gain but if your feeding meat as well use the 20 not 28 as the protien will be to high . Depends how much you're doing...I feed Gain 28% with meat when they're busy and at the height of the season mines were on Red Mills 32% and meat...I feed the Gain 20% in summer when they're on their holidays... Country Joe 1,411
I have a Whippet he appears to be doing well on this feeding regime. One lb raw meat, beef, or rabbit, or chicken, and lb fish once a week. good handful of Gain 20%, grated carrot and spinach daily. 2.5 oz scoop of gain Gamivit supplement daily. Beef and chicken from Durham animal feeds, ferreted rabbits, and fish from near out of date Morrisons supermarket. if feeding meat i would use Gain 20% if not Gain 28% Edited March 13, 2013 by Country Joe

Maybe try adjusting your fresh feeding regime if you are already feeding raw, but its hard to help without much info on what you actually feed meat wise. I would look at feeding a good range of raw foods with a good fat content. I take it you are using a Baked wholemeal mixer biscuit? I have used several hard baked biscuits over the years and found them very good, but I would always prefer a baked biscuit over a extruded one. Regards Sirius
sandymere 8,263
What sort of meat are you feeding? it may well not be a problem with the biscuits. Energy comes from fat and glucose (carbs being a god source of the latter) protein is not a good energy source but for repair unless the others run low, so consider increasing the fat and carb content. Go for quality protein rather than pet minces that can be as much as a problem as a help to the dog. Feed twice a day when working hard, Increase fat content in cold weather and as it contains around double the calories af carbs or protein it's a good way to increase calories without to much bulk. Feed a light meal within a most an hour after work, include carbs and protein to restock stores. Warm kennel, draught free.. Look at other reasons it may be struggling a little on rabbits, there are many. Keep in mind hard run dogs start to look like hard run dogs by the end of the winter, I know mine will be ready for a rest in a week or three.
