Qbgrey 4,089
breeding from stock sat in a kennel allday pumping out litter after litter, from un worked dogs is not what I agrre with, culling pups that don't sell also.thers plenty of guys breeding from working stock ,and a greyhound runs and shit, and so does a collie.........and both got 4legs Have u personally visited Hancock or just going from what u have heard from other people on here? I didn't ask what they had in common I asked what they were bred for. Anyway u do what u do, and I'll do what I do. not visited but close mates have, its just against my ideas of lurcher work, welfare,i don't like private breeders pumping out litters, let alone a business,we all know what they bred for ,except he dosent work his.if your happy with your dog that's all that counts,do you work it Quote Link to post

bunnys 1,228
millet took mention of worker ta worker and is far and away one should go ,when choosing a whelp . the early days at hancocks the studs were from imediate working stock . SOME GOOD ANIMALS CAME FROM hancocks and maybe a odd uns since , breeding on from stock of yesteryear to replace studs is fine , as far as those down the line were worked .and tested there is nugets in all types of workers more so with the collie type . i believe work begets work , and to be ignorant of this fact says it all .why not when one needs new stud animals delve deep and reap the rewards , why breed ones own stud animals when theyre not tested says it all atb bunnys. 1 Quote Link to post
shaaark 10,729
I think a member on here 'undisputed' had dogs from hancocks, and they certainly looked more than capable of taking ALL quarry, judging by the pics he put up. I've not had adog from there, but two of my mates have, 4 in total, and they also made good allrounders and excellent lampers, again taking ALL quarry. But as pritch suggests, it's probable that the guys that have success with these dogs actually know how to bring a dog on properly. 2 Quote Link to post
fay 75
If you go on the web site and look in the news section it says the black dogs are a bit cheaper due to it being the dominant colour. And if like me you are drawn to the less common colouring then I imagine the black ones are alway the last ones to go. That said if the pups from the litter I wanted one from were all black I would have had a black one. 25/10/2012 Price change. Over the last 30 years, we have always charged the same price for dogs and bitches with any coat or colour. But, the most dominant colour in Collies is Black. We have decided that from now on all SMOOTH COATED BLACK DOGS will be slightly less in price. If you would like more details, then please ring Sally or David Quote Link to post
