Put the bitch in...she was on but under the roots of an elder...all went quiet...sa her on top sniffing around so we thought it bolted...let the young UNENTERED pup have a run through the earth we thought was empty...he was on and showed so we lifted him and put the older bitch back....she found....held a rather pissed off occupant....we dug....she didnt move at all...dog out...quarry shot...back fill...go home and clean dog up...

How the hell do you do it then?!

if the fox was still there she shouldn't of come out she should of dug in around the root not land on to the bank and start sniffing about as if its gonna take dump,,

as for the pup he went in struck the stuff and should not of walked out,,, if its in him its in him..... that's where my comment come out with back to the drawing board for you... hard part of working an unentered dog to a earth is getting him to strike the stuff but when he has an walked of no good mate,,,, what age is pup BTW??

If she cant get past the roots she aint gunna get past them unless she goes down next time with a saw. Pup is a little over 15 month now and was its first time to ground, only been tied up before now at digs to my bitch and messed about with rats once the partridge are out of the pens. I start them at 18month, so this was only meant to be a chance for it to run what we thought then was an empty earth.

Hind sight is a marvellous thing.

Does everyone of your digs go smoothly with out any sort of hitch? Do all of your youngsters go into the dark first time without a hitch?

It dont matter a f**k to me what little chumps like you think either way. Il do what i do and you carry on living in dream land little lad

Sounds like me your dog went in struck the stuff let it out past her\him and then lost it, shouldn't of took so long up on bank should of flew straight up hole again an dug stuff no bother,, instead of sniffing about top of ground :? so that brings me back 2 my question of wats a working dog meant to do???

some terriers are diffrent gouldy his terrier got the job done it works for him and the pup is a pup not all go the same way when striked, for example a dog from my last litter was entered, striked, came away left off for a few months and now there is no stopping him you dont no the mans dogs so quit your jibbering mate.but of course im sure you have the best terriers in the land come on give it a rest  and well done bud hope next season is good to you

Each to there own what standard of dog you keep but i think what gouldy is trying to say is dog was entered then came out and then was re entered in same hole and went on another 30 yards so the reason of roots stopping the dog can not be used as an excuse for dog comming out as obviously he could get on further !!! And im not slagging old nogs dog off as it did job in the end just roots never stopped this dog pushing on maybe it was a touch of lazyness fist time round no one will ever know!!!!

Never went down the same hole. Im not sure where this part of the story came from? There were about a dozen holes to this spot and when re-entered she went into one in the bank side, not on the top flat, and we dug around 30yrds in the other direction to where the first mark was.

Simples really

Nevermind oldnog you got job done mate only read last 2 pages and have read enough to understand where your coming from pal looks like these boys kennels on here will be like a conviabelt all these boys who say that say [BANNED TEXT] they put a dog to ground last time they see it is [BANNED TEXT] they dig it out we all hope for that but each earths diffrent some dogs can't get on come out look for otherways to go in and find its quarry so are u boys saying soon has dog shows you put it back on lead and say that dog has failed?
