nod 285
Right was having a debate today with a mate about car derived vans. his brother just got a speeding ticket for doing 60 in his vivaro van, i know his isnt a car derived so he took the fine. but i have a kangoo van and my mate has a berlingo van, he is saying that we cant do the same speed as cars, but i was saying that because we both have vans that there is a car version of, we are fine to do the same speed as cars. who is right, me or him? Chid 6,493
as long as your van doesnt exceed 2 to max laden weight your fine https://www.gov.uk/speed-limits
04fox8 168
Isn't there something about a side window behind the doors? ie - Mk 3 or 4 escort vans had a small window about 3-4" wide behind the window. I think it's L200 pick ups have a similar small window. I wouldn't take the bobbies word 1st off. They had a stand at the Royal Highland show last year, and a quiz for the kids. As we asked the respective bobbies the quiz questions, They started separate debates with their colleagues for the answers!
Born Hunter 17,751
You're right, as Chid has proven. Take no notice of ya mate.
Gaz_1989 9,539
So a large van - transit size can only do 50 in national speed? You live and learn!

Malt 379
You learn something new every day, I thought a van up to 7.5 tons had the same speed limits as a car! http://www.bedfordshire.police.uk/advice_centre/casualty_reduction_partnership/speed/know_your_speed_limits.aspx
Rabbithunter 456
Well I always thought Anything upto 3.5ton 60mpsh, 3.5 to 7.5 50mph and over 7.5 40mph. On a national speed limit road. Looks like ill have to be extra careful in my tranny now when theres a T5 around. Mind iv driven vans for years, past coppers, behind coppers, and in front of them at 60mph and never had a bother
Far from home 7
I thought speed limits didn't apply in vans, just like red lights...
