baw 4,360
They seem to pick up injuries when you least expect it. On a daft rabbit, running about etc. maybe best getting your mate to attach the lure on with a bit of string or something that's going to give if the dogs catch it. Bit time consuming but worth it if this is gonna happen. I've never had a dog that would chase a lure. Run after it half hearted but not anymore than that. Quote Link to post

True that - guy I know was taking his dog out for a piss last thing at night and a bunny got up out of his neighbours garden, dog gave chase jumped barbed wire into industrial premises and a couple of hundred quid to fix it!!! sandymere 8,263
Sh1te happens when we least expect it. I had a bitch chased the lure once, was the only time she did, as a fella got a good pic it hangs on my wall. As an aside well organized lure racing etc looks good stuff and I might give it a go as an interest through the summer but some of the fiascos you see at shows etc is bloody awful, dogs turning on each other, doing 15 circuits of the field before they can be caught etc. beggars belief that when a dogs has had a go at another half way its put back in the next round??? the reason its banned in greys is not just because it effects the outcome but because it bloody dangerous. if the organisers where to ban the problem dogs I'm sure more would get involved. 2 Quote Link to post

B.P.R 2,798
What line is he using on the lure? I have rolsen building twine on mine....if its put under too much pressure it will snap... Also using a piece of carpet or a heavy rug just infront of the lure machine......the lure is hidden under the carpet so the dogs cant get it. Also acts to keep the line tight and run neat on the spool Works perfect for us Quote Link to post
