Mawders 595
Cheers for the comments lads. Oh and timmy we are going to have to meet soon and have a shoot! Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
top shooting there. some excellent groups. the 97kt is an incredible springer capable of some serious accuracy. mine shoots just as well as any of my pcps. mines in the smaller calibre. the pro sport is a fantastic gun, but a properly tuned 97 is second to none. Good to see a man that knows what hes talking about with true life experience. Nice post GM buddy. I think the same mate. I have a PS in .177 but as good as it is and it is brilliant the 97 would beat it for smoothness, consistency and ease of accuracy all day long. Ask Mawders how smooth it is. Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
Nice going lads, properly tuned springers are amazing aren't they Mawders? If I ever get another springer it will be Stage 2 tuned from Tony Wall I think it would be nice to compare to my HW77K to something. From how you've described it there sounds to be a definate difference between the SFS tune and the Dave Hall tune that I have. The SFS sounds a much 'softer' shot release if that makes sense. I've heard the V-Mach tune described as short and snappy, almost gas ram-like. Mine is probably inbetween, hard to describe! 1 Quote Link to post

No I think your 77 as had some amazing work put into it mate and you shoot it brilliantly, you're a pleasure to watch on YT. I think the softer shot is down to Tony fixing something to back of the action which drops recoil dramatically once bedded in mate. There is nothing short or snappy about the shot like you say there is with a V Mac system, its just a slight nudge at the shoulder making accuracy pretty much not far off pure ease mate. There is a definate difference from a S1 and S2 tune though. The S1 in my Spectre is smooth and lighter to cock than the S2 but the recoil is increased making accuracy something you still need to concentrate on. A S1 is still better than a OTB rifle by far though as hopefully people will see when we release the review of the Spectre. Si. Quote Link to post
trenchfoot 4,243
Nice to see mates helping each other out. I still have a hankering for a tuned HW springer, but the pro sport keeps catching my eye too. Mawders, have you fallen out with the PS? Quote Link to post
Mawders 595
Trench in a weeks time I'm going to do a new post describing everything in an honest persons experience of the pro sport. They are cracking rifles let me assure you of that but I need another week so I can include some stuff. Just look out for the post mate. It will be a real eye opener. I can't say anymore at the moment though mate, apologies to everyone else that has pm'd me or asked about it on the forum, all will become clear soon. Mawders Quote Link to post

I must admit though I fancy getting my hands on one of Tony's rifles having read all of these great posts. I've just ordered one of these for my scope yesterday. I'm hoping to mount my camera on the scope to get some hunting footage as soon as the rabbit numbers start to build back up! Cheers for the comments lads. Oh and timmy we are going to have to meet soon and have a shoot! I know you fancy a crack at the woodies so we'll have an all day session over laid wheat or barley stubble in autumn with a few more shooting friends, followed by a "fur and feather" pie and a beer. That gives you time to get used to the new gun! In the meantime, here's a 5 shot group from my old PS, shot this afternoon in my garden at 35 yards, AA fields in 4.52, no weighing or lubing! Who needs a PCP! That's some fine shooting there! Quote Link to post

Who needs a PCP! Your on for the shoot, can't wait!! Oh and EXACTLY who needs a PCP for accuracy. Went out today with Zini and we set up one of those little metal discs you can put in supermarket trolleys to unlock them, about the size of a pound coin at 46 lased meters in gusty to strong winds and were sending them flying! A good springer is all you need. I was using the on loan .22 97KT from Si! It was really good fun hitting the tiny spinners we set up as well at 46 meters which were a real challenge getting the windage right. There was some real strong winds today. That's some awesome shooting timmy! You don't need any other rifle, just wish mine had been up to the job but it wasnt to be. Going to count down the days on my living room wall then till we hit the stubble mate! Phil Quote Link to post
valboskie 39
I think your groups are great to be honest I would say you are a good shot. I've been shooting for 6 months and would be very happy with those groups. I shot my sfs stage 2 97kt on Sunday for the first time and had a great time with it. Its only had 100 pellets through it plus what tony shot while testing her. I will take some pics this week of my groups .be kind though im used to shooting a pcp When I concentrated on what I was doing it was pellet on pellet I thought this is easy then I would pull one And ruin a great looking group. I honestly can't wait to know this gun and get used to it. Im going to try my luck at hft with it.i have never shot an event yet I bought an s400 and then ordered A ginb ft no 1 stock I wish I had not bothered it will be money wasted. I wont put the 97kt down to use it .I wish I had had the opportunity to try one before I bought a pcp and saved a load of cash. The sfs 97 is amazing 1 Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Another believer and convert. Love it. Enjoy it mate. You have one of the nicest springers out there. Si. Quote Link to post

porkybella 284
I was at my local club earlier solihull rifle club and a generous lady let me shoot her hw95 it had a sfs stage 1 tune and it was unreal the trigger was awsome. I could even imagine what a stage two feels like. Might have to invest i was grouping it better than my pcp. 2 Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Porky, The SFS 95s are great as you say if you hold them correctly. Due to them being light they require more concentration than a stage 2 tuned heavier 97. When we release the Spectre review you will see the first 2 shots of a 55 yard .22 test group going exactly through the same hole followed by another 2 going under with the first 2 shots a 5p. A 5th shot was fired that was within less than a .22 pellets diameter from also going under the 5p with the other 4. Edited March 20, 2013 by zini Quote Link to post
gasman1 15
that spectre of yours looks like a very nice piece of kit too si. you have some nice springers in your ever evolving collection. ive been thinking of getting a decent break barrel for a while now, but still cant make my mind up what to get. when it comes to springers, i'm a hw man through and through, so it'd be between to , 95 and 98. it' also have to be in 177 cos i'm now fully converted. strange cos i used to be 22 all day. if i were to get a 95, i'd have to put it in a custom stock to increase the weight and mellow out the snappiness. i dont mind having a heavy gun. it seems to help when trying to shoot accuratley, whereas the and 98 already have a bit of heft to them to begin with.
