Guest MOLLY
If the camera is on an ordinary (A) road. Is on the opposite side of the road to you, facing you will it record if you are speeding or do they just record people on its side of the road taking pictures of the rear? MOLL. Fairly sure molly that it can only get you if you have the stripes on your side of the road also, usually if the count markers are one side only it is there for what they were supposed to be used for, ie safety, generally to slow peoples approach to a known black spot junction etc.
mad al 146
Now then Molly, what have you been up to? Good question though, I think they only clock rear plates, so they wouldn't be activated by a car from the other side of the road in the opposite direction. But and it's a big but, there are more than one type of camera , some swivel and monitor both directions. Whether this is activated when a car is coming the other way or does it solely focus on one side at a time, I don't know. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to bring us up to speed (no pun.....honest). Al

SINDASOX 256
It's feckin terrible having a sweat on over a £60 fine and 3 points on your licence, when for example you were only doing say 35mph in a 30 zone etc, etc. SINDASOX
MR TEA POT 1,287
You should be fine MOLLY,they only take photos at the back. The reason there is stripes on your side is for people who try to go on your side to avoid the camera in their lane. You will have to take your lead boots off
Guest MOLLY
There are lines on both sides of the road. I was doing 40mph last night approaching it (mind on other things) and saw the double flash, but there were cars going the other way. I always thought it was only from behind because motorbikes only have rear numberplates? BUT....... a week ago with the same camera going the other way, i was behind 2 cars, it flashed and i looked at my speedo, 30mph. The cars infront of me would have been doing the same. Just one of those stupid things last night, I always slow right down as it is at the entrance to a small village...infact it was Jultaylor1972's fault, i was thinking about her escapade with the guys who pinched her car the night before Well ill just have to wait and see i suppose MOLL. tiny tim 22
it cant get you as you go towards it...as said before the lines are on both sides are to get people avoiding the camera on there side by going over the white line and using the oncoming lane
millreef 0
SORRY BE BRINGER OFF DOOM BUT I RECENTLY GOT DONE WE FORWARD FACIN CAMERA 45 IN 40 ,you deffo need double flash though
david2363 42
Afraid to say that over the years I have become something of a reluctant expert on speed traps  If it was a fixed camera i.e a Gatso or a Truevlo , the only record pics from the rear. And as someone else said, the lines on the other side of the road are to deter people from changing lanes to avoid the camera.
Rabbithunter 456
just slow down to the speed limit before you hit the road markings
king 11,980
a woman i used to work with used to pass a camera in the opposite lane to were the camera was approaching it head on and allways done about 65 plus and told me that it only flashes if you pass it on the same side as the camera and she passed that camera probably a few hundred times
