B.P.R 2,798
My first attempt at a sideshooter. Made of oak with an elm palmswell. Few big mistakes.... I didnt have a G clamp handy so had to make do with hand pressure and a battery sat on top of the palmswell..... As a result the bonding isnt flush but i done what i could. I now have g clamps. Theres also a split in the wood on the fork so i dont know how that will work, shooting wise? 2 screw holes in the handle...from screwing the lump of wood i used. But i tried my best anyway. Treated with boiled linseed oil and beeswax. Cheers.
Strong Stuff 2,171
Every one will teach you something new, or pay for a new tool, so keep on them, I reckon you'll hit a particular style that you're better at making than any other and that will be your "thing" that only you do then, and then you'll be flying. Look at this shocking lot here ..........The first few collars I ever sold, not far off 10 years ago now, they've come a long way! You'll get there, quickly from what I've seen so far.
B.P.R 2,798
Holy shiit! They looks a million miles away from the collars we know today Shows with time, patience and effort that you DO get better and improve. I am happy with this one but at the same time disappointed that i made those mistakes. I should have waited for a G clamp and used a different piece of the elm without the holes in The split in the wood (after some research) means i can shoot it.... But unfortunatley i cant sell it due to it having an imperfection that could 'eventually' cause it to split. You live and learn.
Sheffield Catapults 71
I wouldn't worry about it, out of every ten I make at least 1 has a defect that ends up on the fire. Last time I found my Titebond had somehow gone off which resulted in the laminates coming apart slightly. It's annoying but it's all part of the fun of working with wood... so they tell me.
