Copper is a good colour - I still use a spinner that worked for me 40 years ago. A classic that is still made. The Abu Droppen.

Here's a pic of the copper and orange vagabond and the greenfish. The vagabond is 7g and the greenfish in the pic is 8g though i mostly use a 12g greenfish.

Mepps number 4 and 5 in red spot gold for me.....caught many fish of varying species on it. Plenty light enough to spin in shallow water without snagging up.

The Vagabond was more or less another of the Abu lure collection - the Little Wiggly. But those look more detailed and excellent! Great for the lakes I would think.

I think a mepp is a great bait, fished upstream, personaly i would rather use a gold then copper then silver. Other people will only use silver, they all catch but i think you fish with more belief with your favorite colour on.

When I was a kid we used to upstream spin all the time for trout and sewin. We would fish just after a flood on little spate rivers. The more coloured the water the brighter the spinner and as the water fined down so you would make the spinner usually mepps less bright. You could start off with silver and end up with black as the water cleared.

Off work this morning so got a few hours in. Landed five and missed another two on the spinner. Mostly spinning using the 12g greenfish. Here's two i kept for the oven.
