When I was a kid we used to upstream spin all the time for trout and sewin. We would fish just after a flood on little spate rivers. The more coloured the water the brighter the spinner and as the water fined down so you would make the spinner usually mepps less bright. You could start off with silver and end up with black as the water cleared.

Stocked brown trout.
