danw 1,748
For those of us whos passion is hunting and not paper punching then the 100 yd and an inch over is all you require .Note i said hunting and not long range sniping .I set mine to these standards and rarely go wrong but each to their own .I often wonder just how folks get on first we range find the animal then work out the drop and adjust the scope then dope the wind then awwwwwww f**k its gone lol For me its quite simple identify what you consider your maximum distance you can accurately shoot to then zero the rifle at the distance which gives the flattest trajectory to you maximum range Edited March 12, 2013 by danw Quote Link to post

Generally most shooters can judge distances, if im shooting a fox in the chest area, i would just point and shoot at distance quite comfortably. Although i do add 1 moa when out lamping foxes which covers most practical situations. In my opinion - It dose pay to know how your bullet is behaving at longer ranges, incase something dosent go exactly to plan. Quote Link to post
