LaraCroft 863
In cricket, the first testicular guard "the box" was used in 1874. The first helmet wasn't used until 1974. Apparently it took 100 years for men to realise that their brains could also do with some protection....

Blackbriar 8,569
Spike Milligan ( I think) epitaph on his gravestone, Told you I was sick. But do you know what language it is written in? > Spike Milligan ( I think) epitaph on his gravestone, Told you I was sick. Sadly, this is only apocryphal. It was his reply when asked in an interview, what he would like his headstone to say. Brilliantly displays his fabulous wit, mind ! It really does say it that on hs headstone. It's written it Gaelic. Doh! For anyone who has the inclination to see it for themselves he's buried in Winchelsea church yard. And it's hard to make out the inscription as the lettering is failry small for the style. I went to check it out when I was down there the other year. Fair enough - I stand corrected
