secretagentmole 1,701
JB is John Bowkett the man who made BSA PCP rifles the legends they are. He does a tuning service called a blueprint, which basically makes the rifles a shed load better than they are (BSA build them to cost, JB rebuilds them to specs). Quote Link to post

Thanks for that, but if he designed mine I'd go somewhere else to get it fixed harsh? Maybe? I might email him and ask his opinion. Quote Link to post

RiverRomper 15
The BSAOG is a very good forum. It is well worth the effort it takes to become a regular member if you own a BSA air rifle. Especially in country where the dealer and support network is nonexistent. BSA and the esteemed Mr. Bowkett had a falling out time last year. It's a little fight that isn't mine. Called mr. Bowkett's office to inquire about the rebuild of a regulator for a .177" SuperTEN. He returned the call to Saint Louis and was most amiable, helpful in every way. Wanted 135 GBP with the shipping and everything. That's mucho denaro, even for a Yank. Anyway the option is still there. AZ up in Iowa used to be a BSA dealer and offered to rebuild the regulator for less. The BSAOG is an invaluable resource for information on all BSA guns. Peace, hope this helps, RiverRomper(AA2020) Quote Link to post
reaper1064 285
Thing is that when someone designs something it will always fall into someone else's hands to build them. This is usually when a good solid design becomes prey to cost cutting and couldn't give a shit attitudes of some assemblers. I think that every gun should be traceable to the person who built it, so when it gets returned for QC issues then they can boot the fecker who knocked it together out the door. Quote Link to post
Kent_keith 46
Ive been emailing Darrin from XTX, I bet I drove him mad with my questions late into the evening lol but credit to him he answered them all, top man. after all things consided it's going to him after Easter for an X-tune/service I'm not happy to be spending more money but I want the R10 to be as best as it can be. silentshot1 206
I sent my R-10 to Darren at XTX for a standard tune and wasn't disappointed! Not only did he explain that the more expensive reg replacement wasn't necessary for my needs, which stopped me spending an extra £75.00, the rifle came back transformed! A brilliant service. You'll be happy one you have got it back. Quote Link to post

Thanks for the positive comments regarding Darrin at XTX looks like i picked the right guy to service it, after you had your service did you have to change the make of pellets you were using or did they stay the same? And in what way was it transformed? Keith Quote Link to post
reaper1064 285
You shouldn't need to change your pellet as the barrel has not been touched. Once Darrin fettles with it, it will be a smoother and overall consistent gun without the worries of bit's failing. I send my guns to Tench who does the same services and designed the reg Darrin retro fits to some guns, and they always come back being the beast they should always have been. Quote Link to post
Kent_keith 46
Yes I had a chat to him about the tench reg, as I have the R10 VC the reg is good anyway but he does a few things to it to improve it that he doesn't display on his site. He did tell me but I'm sworn to secrecy Quote Link to post
