earth-thrower 493
I havent done this for years, but this particular farmer ,wants them hanging.(suspect its for a neighbours benefit)Now ,i used to nick the skin with a knife, thread it with string, and then tie it to the fence.Whats a quicker way , without them falling off too soon ?The stretch i plan to use ,will be barbed wire. Matt 160
As one of my old girlfriends used to say, "stick it in firmly and make it last". Quote Link to post

Cheers Matt, sounds a bit quicker,( once i get up to speed,LOL ) I take it they hold ,pretty well ? The farmer I trap for kept asking me how many I'd caught and I suspected that he didn't believe me so I started putting them on the wire. Some are still there from last September. It is interesting watching them decompose. There is a fly with an iridescent green body that cuts a small 'V' into the skin and then lays its eggs under the skin. The maggots eat the mole from the inside out and in time the fur goes like lace and you can see the skeleton inside. The last thing to rot before the bones are the scrapers. Quote Link to post

I don't like to see them squirming, their little claws twitching, but I quite like it when the gamekeeper puts his black hood on. Seriously its showing you are doing your job, like the gibbet pole. My nearest permission is plagued with the velvet gentlemen,I'm forever kicking their hills over to keep the pasture flat. Quote Link to post
The one 8,463
The only thing is it somebody with a wee bit of knowledge theres traps in the vicinity Quote Link to post
DIDO.1 22,585
I keep mine in a bucket till iv finished the job then hang all on the fence, put the barb through their foot as its so tough not many blow off. Iv had some pieces still there 2 years later. I only hang them if i'm charging per mole so i can show im not charging 2 different farmers for the same mole. Quote Link to post

Le Braconnier 49
I think hanging is too good for them. Personally I prefer to bury them alive. 2 Quote Link to post
trappa 517
I slip the barb through the snout when asked to hang them on the fence. Its not a great practice but it has to be done in certain scenarios. Quote Link to post
John Keswick 119
I think hanging is too good for them. Personally I prefer to bury them alive. That is because you havent killed enough stuff and you havent learnt respect for the animals that you do kill. Quote Link to post
