Cleanspade 3,324
there is a sharp increase of roe around me also. vast tracts of forestry and wildlife friendly parks. have helped them out no end. they are hit hard with plenty of stalkers here but they arnt making much of a dent in the numbers. the huge windfarms are helping also although some of these are hitting them hard trying to keep a balance .i try to stick to rabbits these days. if i fancy some venny burgers i'll buy some off the stalking lads. 1 Quote Link to post

I reckon you've hit the nail on the head there. In my opinion the gradual increase in habitat since the 70's and earlier is one of the main reasons for the increase in deer numbers. At the very least they need regular patches of some kind of woodland in amongst the farmland before they can colonise an area. (Unless you're looking at hill and heathland of course. morton 5,368
You can,t thrash about with dogs now without coming across Roe,even city centres were an industrial complex is demolished soon gets its resident Roe,areas that never held deer are now holding, they are becoming a real nuisance,a lot of the areas are out of bounds to a gun, what a pity?.
