Nibler 3
On the news today about too many deer. They said that 700,000 would need to be culled just to keep the numbers static. At last some news that doesn't involve hugging bunnies. 1 Quote Link to post

lapin2008 1,587
There are loads about compared to what there was 20 odd years ago but it doesnt especially concern me What I don't understand is how they expect just to be able to remove 700,000 deer just like that, has anyone read what the intended timescales are? I just dont think there are enough stalkers around to do the job. A full time stalker I did some accompanied stalking with a while back, is out 100-150 odd times a year (if i remember rightly!) with clients sometimes at both dusk and dawn, and maintains a living out of this but only has 15,000 acres permission. If one man can be out that much on such a relatively small piece of the UK I dont see how they can hope to get the numbers they want. Admittedly he is maintaining a healthy set of herds and not going for numbers but still... Quote Link to post

Maximus Ferret 2,063
If every member on here, even the ones who've never posted and the ones who live abroad, if they all took 14 deer, they'd still not take 700,000. It doesn't sound very likely to happen really. Quote Link to post

blackgreyhound 206
in bedfordshire in the seventies you would encounter the odd cwd .but now they are everywhere not just woburn park .because no one is dogging them they have become very common .in the seventies eighties a few lads were hunting them with dogs but most of them are now to old lost intrest or dont fancy prison.they can have up to 7 young at a time and can breed at 8 months of age .it is getting to the stage where you dare not let a dog off the lead for a run as there is a good chance a chink will get up .try exsplaining that to a ignorant magistrate.this i whaht happens when missinformed idiots voted to ban hunting deer with dogs. 3 Quote Link to post
