blackgreyhound 206
gsd xg come in to types thick set very powerful wolf like good scenting ability very good in woods good at gun work ferreting long netting .will catch a few rabitts in the lamp and a few day time but no good on daylight hares very strong build great stamina whaht i regard as a diesel type dog strong powerful but not very fast but very cunning. out of a litter of say eight you will get two to three that throw more like a well built pharaoh hound catch a few more rabitts in the lamp and daylight but not as many as lighter racier lurchers will catch hares in big open fields especially ploughing .will catch a few more rabitts than diesel version but not as many as a racier lighter lurcher .obviously these types are more inclined to pursue bigger prey .these types of crosses are ideal for big open areas especially moorland and also very good in woods Quote Link to post
Phil Lloyd 10,738
I am certainly no authority on the GSD lurcher hybrids,... I chose to follow the path of my Father and Grandfather and instead, I went down the Sheepdog/Cattle Dog route...BUT,.I have always rated these wolfish dogs, as being superlative hunters... Walked out with a few nice examples of this type, and I would have to echo the words of the previous poster GSD lurchers are much the same as Collie hybrids,.."when they are good, they are VERY good, and when they are bad, they are..... blackgreyhound 206
chalkwarren .i totally agree with you cxg gsdxg labxg they are either excellent or passable get a good one and you will certainly be very happy .get a average one and you will still be able usaully to do something with it bushing gun dog etc tho i have had one or two that were not much good at anything .its like greyhounds in a litter you will have open racers mixed in with anything from A10 to A1.even top greyhounds can throw rubbish Quote Link to post
