It depended on the dog - some are more mature and ready than others. Mine have ranged from just over a year to nearly 3 years. I don't take them lamping as early as some - I like them to have puppy

The question was taking your dog lamping for the first time .... ALL my pups are out from around 7 to 8 weeks of age running about seeing and smelling the sights of the countryside BUT they certainly

I took my pup out to watch his mother run a few rabbits when he was 4 months old,the bitch put a hard strike in as the rabbit got near the hedge, she missed, but as the rabbit ran alongside the hedge t

gsd xg come in to types thick set very powerful wolf like good scenting ability very good in woods good at gun work ferreting long netting .will catch a few rabitts in the lamp and a few day time but no good on daylight hares very strong build great stamina whaht i regard as a diesel type dog strong powerful but not very fast but very cunning. out of a litter of say eight you will get two to three that throw more like a well built pharaoh hound catch a few more rabitts in the lamp and daylight but not as many as lighter racier lurchers will catch hares in big open fields especially ploughing .will catch a few more rabitts than diesel version but not as many as a racier lighter lurcher .obviously these types are more inclined to pursue bigger prey .these types of crosses are ideal for big open areas especially moorland and also very good in woods

I am certainly no authority on the GSD lurcher hybrids,...

I chose to follow the path of my Father and Grandfather and instead, I went down the Sheepdog/Cattle Dog route...BUT,.I have always rated these wolfish dogs, as being superlative hunters...

Walked out with a few nice examples of this type, and I would have to echo the words of the previous poster

GSD lurchers are much the same as Collie hybrids,.."when they are good, they are VERY good, and when they are bad, they are.....
