gnipper 6,426
The best way I've always found is try them in small burrows definitely holding rabbits, they will (or should) go to ground. 1 Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
I started again with young ferrets and just started them off on smaller warrens...4-5 holers etc. 1 in particular had a good season bolting around 60-70 rabbits with only 2 digs. She had another couple of kills below but came away after a short period. Worked for me Edited March 5, 2013 by AirgunGuy Quote Link to post
nighthunter. 13
is it a young ferret mate? if so plenty handling, i get mine goin at a young age with a 6 holer in my garden which i made, then they get used to goin in when you take them out bud, i had ferrets before of folk ruined left to long, but it might come good mate, like gnipper said put it in some small warrens, it might come on bit patience, but like i said i had a few before mate they had been left no handling , timid bobbing in and out not good, stick with it a bit mate it will either be a worker or a shirker as i call em gl. The one 8,463
Start them off during the summer in pipes in the garden it gets them used to being handled etc and pop a collar on them at the same time as i think its a bit much first time out to expect them to go to ground and have a collar fitted for the first time. If you havent done that try putting them to ground in a small burrow with a older working ferret . Kits are like everything else the more you put into them the more you will get out of them 2 Quote Link to post
lavyheed69 2
I'm using first season ferrets this year. I'm doing the same as what everyone else is saying. Using smaller warrens. You'll find it won't take them long to get the gist of things after a few trips out. I've not had to dig any "lay ups"......................Yet. Quote Link to post
