Limerick city itself and the surrounding urban areas aren't the most inviting but depending how far out your land is might be ok and quiet enough to live there.

I have lived in both ROI and the UK so having that experience I would say go for Wales.

No disrespect to ROI as that's where I'm from but don't live there anymore. Financially I couldn't afford to live there as its so expensive.

Take into consideration like the NHS and the fact the Irish government are bringing in new taxes and charges like there's no tomorrow and Wales will come up trumps.

I would love to move to the country at home but just couldn't do it unfortunately.

If limerick is a possibility do a cost of living comparison then don't forget the extra Irish charges like paying €50 odd to see your doctor. Vets bills are half in the UK.

I left my two dogs boosters go out of date so had to do a whole new course plus frontline, wormer and kennel cough and it wasn't much more than my sister's new lab cross getting a full course of inoculations

It's not known as rip off republic for nothing.

Now THAT's the sort of answer i was looking for. Thanks Brewman. Yeah I know Limerick "Stab" City isn't all that inviting. The land we have is about 20-25 miles south of the city. Just weighing up my options really. Of course if I see a house right next to Johnnyboy in Wales, I'll buy it immediately.

Vet bills arent as bad as the uk, as for the doctor... Ye come to realise you dont need to go that often and treat most things at home  i spend about 70euro on food for 2people. Diesel is extortionate, costs me 90euros now to fill up the van.

Heres an idea if you fancy it... Rent out your house in uk for 12mths and use the money to rent over here for 12mths

Rent is dirt cheap at the minute you can find some pretty nice houses for rent for 100euro per week at minute.

Meals out are expensive enough compared to england, beer is much more expensive in pubs and small town nightclubs are guaranteed shite anywhere in the country lol

and theres feck all work to be found anywhere.

25mins from limerick city is too close, its a stones throw from every theif and scally in the area.

Move to Wales, we're all full up here :tongue2: If you move to the Welsh coast you can always look across the Irish sea and dream of what might have been (some night you're surrounded by helicopters and armed police thinking you're part of an Al Queada plot involving rabbits!).

Depends what your used to.....i bought a little gaff up in a place called Forres near Inverness to do up as a kind of place to get away.......never stayed there more than about 3 weeks the place drove me mad it was so remote.......if your coming out of a town or city rural life will take some getting used to.

Why not stay somewhere first rather than committing to it with pound notes and maybe regretting it later on.
