sussex 5,777
One of the places i manage the deer is a chicken farm, i was originally asked to have a go at the foxes & given the fact he has 70,000 free range chicken you can see why hes a tad cautious about charlie.the chicken are obviously fenced but every now and then one finds its way in and it ends up carnage.Anyway, allthough not that big a place you cant help noticing the deer slot everywhere ,when i mention this to him he said i'm running alive with them ,when we first moved here we used to see a few but now they are evertwhere ,every thing my wife plants during the day they pull up at night ,He is genuinly pleased with my offer to cull a few. Five years later thats what we still do ,which see me up in the high seat (6x6 shed on legs)last night i had a pal of mine in the other hide built on a ridge looking down on to a wood.Mine is built on the end of a tiny spinny almost surronded by woodland,we got in position by 4.30 and waited, not that long before seeing a few but all does ,as the light faded i see a buck but had no clear shot and my mate faired about the same, se plentyu but no real chance, just as i was calling it a day charlie put in an appearance ,middle of field ,gave him a little squeak and that was him gone. Back up tonight, same seat , no mate, he could'nt get his ticket signed,Just turned 5.30 several does apeared followed by a big bunch of does fawns and second from last a pricket ,As they made there way past the seat 45m away the pricket dropped to the shot .Gave him a ride on the quad ,gralloched at home 10 minutes later ,washed & cleaned he's in the chiller with his tag .Good animal chiller weight was 81lb 4 Quote Link to post
