Right I have decided to learn by myself as I never been ferreting and really want to get into it but no one has taken me out after months of asking people, it's Sod's law the people who would live million miles away, so made a hutch and got straw etc goin to wait and get some kits, anything I should look out for when picking them? check their teeth too, i was caught with my first ferret. the f****r had snapped her teeth

Try asking local guys for a day out to see how there ferrets work and get a couple of kits from them

Go for it.., I hadn't been out since I was a little kid so basically taught myself (20 years later!).

Get a couple of books on ferreting and I know it's expensive but use collars as when you start you'll be crapping yourself that you'll ever see the little buggers again! They will give you confidence.

I get out nearly every weekend through the winter now and have done for the past 7 years, best thing I ever did it is such good fun. I do alot of other stuff mainly deer stalking once or twice a wk but ferreting with a couple of mates and the dogs beats it all . Good luck.....it ain't rocket science.

Where about's in staffs are you? It's my first season and I taught myself because I couldn't find any local people to go with.

From burntwood nr Lichfield, been asking on here for ages but no one close enough to just get a bit of experience off, like u say not rocket science I am sure I will get hang of it. Cheers gaz
