Weather was good and so was the shooting I had about 5 in the bag and decided to head home . Just getting to the car when I spotted a good shot woodie in the top of a tree next to a fast flowing river . I shot the pigeon clean head shot about 45 yards and dropped straight down to a sludgy river bank . Holding on to what I thought was a sturdy tree trunk I leant down to retrieve the pigeon when the trunk snapped and sent me flying into the river smashing my head on a trunk at the other side splitting my head and tearing my ear .i was in a right old mess bleeding wet through and no phone .i managed to get back up the bank with bird retrieved a valuable lesson learned as I'm sore as hell !!!!!!!!
