A Few Hours With The Springer

Recommended Posts

ive watched your vid shooting the spectre and it looks like an excellent gun. the stock and adjustable butt pad finishes is off a treat. is tony going to do some in 177 too?

i got round to changing the breech seal on my 97kt today and did a 10 shot string. the first 2 were 781fps, the next 7 were 782 and the last was 784 with jsb blues. 10.8fpe. just right as it seems happy at that power. i was suprised at how cosistent it is. a proper fettled springer is way more cosistent than a regged pcp. mines easily as accurate as my hw100 if i do my bit.

i thought mine was amazing (untuned rifle) at 11fps spread 10 shots.. :cray:

might get it tuned now with the jealousy

Yeah agreed Gasman, my tuned Spectre did a 5 shot total deviation of just 3.3 feet per second on camera with H and N 5.53mm pellets. It will be shown and proven when our review comes out soon. My HW97KT will probably be even smaller in deviation as that's now really settled in.

I think these figures are better than my HW100KT and my mrs Ultra SE in the sweet spot.

After looking at Elliotts clips on YouTube and seeing what great work Dave Hall does with tuning, and me personally knowing what Tony Walls works like I dont think you can beat their tuning mate. They both are cracking at what they do.

Id happily use Dave Hall as a tuner of my rifle if i didnt know Tony, but Tony is a good friend of mine and as supported me since 1997 with brilliant tuning work so im staying loyal to him and his work mate as im more than happy with him and it.

For me the end result after the rifle is at the right bedded in power and all settled down in the firing cycle there nothing ive shot yet (springer wise) that is smoother to cock and shoot.

Si.

Yes i agree with everyone else, Nice rifle that spectre, If i ever get over my spring "phobia", I might get one. Yours felt good in the shoulder and points well, And you have shown that it shoots well too, Hmm spectre or pro sport !

Even 10 fps is good. some guys down the club are happy there regged pcp,s are 12 fps over 20 shots ! tech has come a long way over the years.

Consistency is seized upon these days like its going out of fashion, you can put 10 shots down range at 45 yrds and make a nice ragged hole the size of your middle finger nail with 30 fps spread, Air gun ranges is what we are talking about, and they are a lot more forgiving than most people think. when i was a kid me and my mate used to cut matches in half with a meteor 8 times out of 10 at 30 yrds. and i bet the spread on that was all over the place.

Still, consistency plays a part in the accuracy stakes, consistent pellets, hold, but more importantly, being able to shoot the rifle accurately as possible before you start worrying about anything else. you should only improve from that point. Consistency of shot to shot is important obviously but not nearly as important as pellet shape, weight, coefficient flight, many things. But the most important ingredient of all, is you.
