salukixgrey 779
Took my dog out for a run and wasnt himself so took him to vets and they reckon its lung worm, but the vet said probally caught it early so might be ok. hes had antibiotics and advocot. is there anbody on here who has had them recover to full fitness or is it the end for him? hes only just turned 2 and seems ok in himself but when i took him out last week he seemed to have lost abit of strengh and was breathing very heavy, so walked him next day bout 2 mile and seemed to be panting when shouldnt be, hes saluki saturated and usually has plenty of wind, im abit sick bout this its a bad end to the season but just want to no if you think he will recover? thanks atb. Desmond 480
You dont want to be letting him do much whilst hes got it because thats how most of the damage is caused to the lungs, advocat im sure is only a type of prevention and thought panacur granules or liquid is the stuff to use with an infected dog,you use it over a period of time, cant remember if its 7 or 10 days...i think you stand a better chance if you catch it early than if its left, just do all ya can and goodluck Quote Link to post

MikeTheDog 153
There was an abundance of slugs and snails last year due to the shit wet weather we have had. The two pups I kept back used to pick up slugs and chew the feckers, found quite a few dead slugs in their bed and in the garden and unsurprisingly they showed symptoms of lung worn. Treated them with Advocate and they came 100% good in a couple of days and no side effects. Hopefully you will have nothing to worry about. Quote Link to post
