Ferriting The Rough Bank

we went to a place yesterday that holds a lot of rabbits , its a long bank at the side of a canal, the only way to do it is with long nets field side and hope the rabbits make for the hedge facing it . All went well for the first 15 then we had a shallow dig, the bank runs for half a mile and theres a lot of rabbits here but the towpath gets busy with walkers and their dogs so we moved over to the hedge facing and set up again, I left at 23 but my lad carried on doing a few small sets for 14 more , this with the few that I had caught in the snares gave us a good tally for the back end of the season

they went to a posh butchers for fifty bob apiece, I rang round a few butchers last night their stories were all the same nobody can get hold of any rabbits and the few that reach Melton make £7 a couple in the fur , that was Gamble & Hollis of Syston about 5 minutes after he offered me three quid a couple, cannot see it myself but I will put a few in on tuesday
