baw 4,360
Best waiting till the summer and there is plenty bunnys around annoying the farmer. Save you getting the excuse, no rabbits on me land as well. I always try to get permission for the ferrets or air rifle first, never mention the dog till I build up trust. A dog to a lot of farmers is a pest and not to be trusted. Don't just say rabbits, if he has arable ask for permission to shoot his pigeons, crows etc. you need to target the things that are causing him problems and money. Once on, hammer it for a few weeks, make yourself noticed. Don't need to get big bags, just spend a lot of time on the land. Then after he knows how you tick, say is it ok if I bring my dog along, I'm losing a lot of rabbits that he normally catches. He's 100% stockbroken and ill show you him working, he's a valuable asset to the team etc etc...... If your a handy c**t offer to do jobs for him cheap or free but make sure its worth it to you, farmers are canny fuckers. It's all about gaining trust, your not the first guy to ask him so make sure your presentable etc. once you get one farm it's amazing how quickly your permission builds. Hope this helps and don't be put off by them saying no cos a lot will. As I say, best waiting till atleast may but this is just how I've done it. 1 Quote Link to post

Taz-n-Lily 62
I don't have a shoot gun or a ferrets I just won't to start by doing some brushing Cheer baw Baw has given you good advice about getting an in. If you don't shoot or ferret you need to find another way in. Very few farmers are going to give you permission to bush on their land if they don't know you or your dog. 1 Quote Link to post

baw 4,360
I don't have a shoot gun or a ferrets I just won't to start by doing some brushing Cheer baw No worries. We all want to just run our dogs mate but sometimes you need to crawl before you can run. If you don't have a ferret and don't want to get one, make out you have and you want ferreting. Then ask if its ok to bring the dog. See how you get on with that. Personally if I was you, I'd get a ferret too, opens up more doors and its f***ing great Quote Link to post
wharrier 39
A think getting yourself a ferret first n starting that way is the best option as its a more controlled quieter way of going about things farmers need to trust your respectable of his lad 1st not have a stranger and a dog running all over his farm to start things off atb 1 Quote Link to post
