jigsaw 11,866
I apologise...........i cant help it.I was at work this week and today just at the end of the job(2.30 p.m.)I recieved a phone call,''them goats are here again'' said the voice,ok willy i said I'll get out in the morning, fine says he.So a few small jobs to do and im thinking .............WISH I WAS OUT ON THE HILLS i finished the job at 3 o clock and made a snap decision, fuk it i'll take a trip out.Off home to get the gun and taz the kelpie x,cleared the van and off away with us.Driving like a mad man as darkness falls at 6 .45 so not much time.I reach the farm at 4. 25 and on the way up the lane were the herd of goats, nannys, kids and a few juvenile billys, munching on willys grass and he was not happy.I drove into the yard and met himself.''THOUGHT YOU WER'NT COMING TILL THE MORN'',he says,SURPRISE says I,I got the boots on,the dog out and off into the lane, creep about 25 yards to get to the gate and sit the dog.I studied them for a little while, photographed them and then picked out the individual I would cull.A nice small billy at the front,up the gun on the gate and shot taken.Feck me if they dont take off like a herd of race horses,no hanging about, they're gone into the trees in seconds. No second shots here.Gone are the days when they wee unsure as to what exactly was happening.Once a shot is taken they are gone. heres what greeted me as I turned up the lane. roughly 30 or so (feel free to count them, lol) job done. the poor b*****d lies alone Well I decided to try for another and I leged it up the lane into the derilect farm above, runing as fast as my tired old legs could take me .Up over the gate and up the dirt path into the field above, fast check......no sign.I knew from past experiences theyd head for the high rocky outcrop and through the 2 blocks of forestry and off out the hill not to be seen again for days,so I had to get ahead of them and meet them face on.I ran up the gravel laiden strip thats developed from the water running down from the hill.Into the last field and swing right handed and daa daa..........NOT A FERKIN SIGN OF THEM I worked my way back to the place i thought id see them and after a bit I stumbled on 2 nannys with 3 kids,1 had twins.I sat looking at them for a bit and they were unaware I was there.I sat the dog and just enjoyed watching them. The kids were too young to survive without their mammy so I put the gun down and i forgot to get the bloody camera out I was so preoccupied with their carry on.I headed down towards them and then they either smelt or heard me and scattered. There below them was the rest of the gang.I did my best to get into them bit they just took off and dissapeared into the furz and gorse. have 1 look at what they dissapeared into,a bloody hole in the ground almost, its like a rabbit hole formed in the cover taz then watches them run through the cover and dissapear, never to be seen again. so I headed back and met willy on the way.He picked up the goat for me and carried it to the van in the tractor. No complaints here. had a paulus moment with this one and then he filled the van with timber for the fire heres a view of the terrain I cover, a bit on the rough side plenty of hidden dangers to wrench yer ankles and knees, lol and heres one I did earlier as rachael allen might say ok thats enough of that.
