Jason Kershaw 1 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Share Posted February 28, 2013 i have just read the post a bout ticks very helpful. ordered tick tool...but earlier today i had my jill out and found 2 ticks on her so i used tweezers to pull them out. but after that i could feel little lumps when they came out. i looked at the tick and all seamed to be there. but how would i no if the head was still on her before its 2 late to act.. cheers Quote Link to post

ferret100 47 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Share Posted February 28, 2013 If the head/mouthparts remained, there would be abnormal brown/black matter from where you removed the tick. The lumps are most likely an inflammatory reaction and wouldn't worry about them unless they don't go away in a day or two. If you have a fit, healthy animal their immune system should be capable of pushing out any foreign matter in the skin, (same as splinters in people), you have to be unlucky for it to get infected, but as mikeball said use some saline to clean the areas twice daily if you're worried.
