Guest scramble
make sure your putting the wires on the holes the rabbits are using, you'll see on well used runs that the galv and been worn off by the rabbits belly and back and will be discoloured. Quote Link to post
Guest scramble
Oh and you need to leave an inch or 2 gap at the bottom so the rabbit can get his feet through without disturbing the snare. get that knot a little tighter too Quote Link to post

Yokel Matt 918
Not sure i'd trust that chicken wire to hold mate. The eye on those snares looks pretty big as well, not that i'm any expert though. Woodgas dvd is very good should help answer a few questions. Quote Link to post

Guest scramble
Micky you could try setting those wires a touch higher, the bottom of the snare wants to catch the neck. your running the risk of the wire laying flat on contact with that setting height. do you get many caught by the back leg?? This is just my opinion. SCRAMBLE Quote Link to post

The eye on those snares looks pretty big as well, not that i'm any expert though. Woodgas dvd is very good should help answer a few questions. there are two sets of wire there, chicken , and rabbit . I try to fix to both but more often than not the clip will fit on to several strands of the fence that the rabbits have compressed by pushing under. I have caught a lot of rabbits along this fence over the years and lost a few to the foxs and badgers but I have never lost a snare that has been attached to the fence by this method. SCRAMBLE there is no point in setting higher ,the rabbits ears will be touching the bottom wire on the existing fence as it comes under and there is plenty of space below the bottom of the loop for the rabbits feet , my only problem at this place are badgers ,foxs , and buzzards and the long walk back with the catch.
