sandymere 8,263
At six months its normal and certainly no problem, feck I was out last night exercising my 3 year old dog, there was a buck rabbit chasing around after a doe in the second field my bitch was straight on them the dog? Fifty yards back in the first field with his nose in a clump of grass! If I had a lamp with me he would have been by my side head up scanning as the beam came on. They learn through experience, he knows there are rarely any rabbits in the exercise fields so just potters and your pup will sooner or later see a bunny and give chase then will slowly learn when to put it head up and when to put it down. Patience is key. Quote Link to post
Ipswhip 17
I have a 6 month old whippet and recently whilst walking him I have seen the odd bunny. However, he doesn't notice them as he is always too busy sniffing the ground. Is this common in young pups? No mate, very rare. I don't think I've ever seen a young pup sniff the ground...... Seriously, is this what your asking??? Jesus f**k. The answers in the thread header!!! I fear for these young dogs on here. Grumpy old man I only asked a question. Were you bullied at school? Ohhh the irony..... To be honest, aye here to help each other out but if you have a pup and it misses seeing a rabbit cos its sniffing, is that really something you need advice about? God help the dog when it needs guidance to jump or look down a beam cos it sounds to me the dog knows more than the owner. Sorry again OP guy, just ignore this too Quote Link to post
