Iv had some heart ache duringvthe nesting season with the little birds. Iitctakesvhard work tobhreed them proprly an if it pays off then its a real good feeling. fireman 10,869 Posted March 29, 2013 Report Share Posted March 29, 2013 I know im being a bit of a melt showing pictures but im well chuffed with the little dudes As you can probably see they are in one of those silly little indoor aviary things ....would that be anything to do with why they have bred maybe sooner in the year than most the fact that its a touch warmer in there.....or doesnt it work like that. Proof is in the pudding as they say Gnasher and that hen is happy to have you take pics whilst she's feeding the young un's so your doing things right ,once those chicks start to get big and look like there about to leave the nest then put in another nest pan and nesting stuff and she'll start to build again.The nest there in now will look a right mess all covered in shite around the edges once there finished with it but don't worry that's usual and once there out of it just remove it,they have gone a little earlier than outside birds will have due to the warm and extra lighting they will have due to being indoors exactly like you think mate 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

fireman 10,869 Posted April 7, 2013 Report Share Posted April 7, 2013 She had built a nest and was due to lay yesterday,i found her all fluffed and not quite as active as she normaly is,she was feeding still but just wasn't right so i checked her over and could see the egg in her.She was panting a bit and stood wide legged like she was trying to lay but couldn't,it's her first ever egg Gnipper but now she's "stretched" as it were all should be fine now. 1 Quote Link to post Share on other sites
