bill88 6
Had my lurcher go after muntjac when we've been out with the ferret's and we've disturbed them. One time i had a terrier go missing for 41/2 hour's,we thought he'd gone to ground, but found him welded to a munty in some heavy cover.Complete accident, and a £140 vet's bill,to stitch the hole in his chest and put a drain in. Guest MOLLY
I used to let my dogs chase Roe all the time in heavy cover. I knew thew would not be able to catch due to the cover but i thought....good exercise and you never know. Lesson learned now, smashed feet and legs never fully recover. Three i spotted tonight.... MOLL. Quote Link to post

conor 7
royston, out of sight was 20 feet from the road. dog is a pup eleven months. like to see any dog catch a deer in 20 feet went looking for the deer anyway this eve, couldnt follow the tracks as there are deer tracks all over the place, ground is very rough pine trees planted in the bog so you can imagine what its like Quote Link to post
ferret15 0
good dogs dont go out of site its bang and over quick and fast even the big boys should be over in a dash if not ya got the wrong dogs sorry lads my opinion when i lost my dog for an hour he was a hundred yards ahead of me when he spotted it maybe fifty yards to the left as soon as he spotted it he was off at first i thought it was a squirrel or rabbit then i saw the deer disappear in to dense scrub and that was the last we saw of him for a hour all this happened in about ten seconds this was the first and only time hes done this in five years the only one in the wrong in my case was me for not keeping up with him if he had seen the deer and not gone for it would you be telling me my dog jacked ?? or was he doing just as he was trained to do kill and stay with it !! we weren't actually hunting on this occasion just out walking hence why he was ahead of me Quote Link to post
