Need some advice ...... Just brought a 9wk old puppy got him home and his shit was fine after a couple of days he started to get diarrhoea ( still on the same food from breeder )

This lasted over a week so took him to the vets and he gave me ' protexin pro-kolin' and ' metronidazole' but he now finished this course of antibiotics and to be fair his shit is alot better but he still shitting like jelly blood, the pup is fine in himself running about like pups do and into everything eating fine it's just this blood like jelly shit........ Don't really wanna take him back to the vets if I don't have to as like I said he fine in himself so can't be much wrong with him and it cost me £54.28 the last time I took him, any advice I'd be grateful!!

The change in circumstances can trigger a bout of the runs with most dogs because of the stress etc. As has been suggested try him on a boiled rice and chicken for a few days and then gradually move him onto whatever food you want to feed the dog.

Took him for his 2nd jab on Monday but the vet wouldn't give him it as he still has this blood in his shit, so he back on another weeks course of antibiotics and booked in for 4th march to see if he any better and hopefully the second injection

If I don't get any joy on Monday from the vets I ll try a different one and see what they say ( only thing is I ve paid all up for his injections upfront at that vets )

The vet hasn't said what it is or what it could be just keeps pumping him with antibiotics ( £12 a time ) and wants to send a poo sample away for tests but that's £98 so trying to hold back and see if it sorts itself out if not I may have to go down that route!!

hello mate a good friend of mine has a whippet which had very similer symptoms to yours, diarreroa to the point of looseing a lot of weight , paid a fortune at the vets/then the veteninary hospital to no avail, somebody put him in touch with a lad from the lurcher rescue , he said - all dogs have bacteria in there stomachs good and bad some whippets more than other breeds have more bad than others and end up with the symptoms my mates dog was showing , the answer tinned chappie dog food he reckons theres something in it !! it worked for my mates dog , just very small servings throughout the day,
