Marick 0
Hi Guys I am looking for info on one of these rifles as thinking of buying one. But I have read things about the stocks being flexi and not grouping well especially as it will have a moderator and be on a bipod etc Any info would be great as would not like to be stuck with it if it's not a shooter ! and waste money too Thanks Alan Edited February 24, 2013 by Marick Quote Link to post
quicksilver 0
Had one in 223 and never liked it. It had feed problems from the mag and was quite fussy about what bullets it grouped. On the plus side I liked the sbs bolt arrangement that allowed the bolt to be operated with the safety activated Quote Link to post
markha 99
Have one for sale on here and on guntrader, stock is not a problem on the one I have, shoots good with or without bipod or mod. Can email you plenty of pics to prove this, very accurate rifles, was out yesterday with it in 18mph winds, took a woody at 248m after dialing in, no dramas and that was off a harris bipod with a Vulcan defense moderator screwd to the end of the barrel. Has no magazine problems, shoots great with remmy acutip, winchester silver tip and privi all from 50 to 60gr. Only selling as have gone down custom rifle build for tactical competitions. Regarding the accuracy of these guns, ring up Border Barrels and ask them what they think of them as a factory rifle as these guy know a thing or two. The accuracy on nearly all rifles is far better than we can shoot, many things can explain poor groupings, and most come down to the person holding the rifle and bad reading of wind. You get one shot at a fox and most are shot within 100yds at night if you cant shoot for 3" groups at that range then you should find something else to do with your time. If you want a tack driving gun with target accuracy then get yourself a set up that is too heavy to lug around, I have been there and done that, Had a remmy 700 police with wildcat mod etc etc, great groups with multiple shots and a hot barrel all the way out to 500m, but hey One shot on a fox at 250m and I didnt need all that weight or for a heavy barrel ,so toss up between the Steyr I brought and a Tikka T3 varmint, glad I got the Steyr as the Tikkas are like the Ford escort of the gun world much like the remmys, The Steyrs with the wood stocks look real nice too, nice wood and hammer forged barley twist barrels, lovely, oh and they all came from factory with a 100 m(not yards) test grouping using moly coated Vmax bullet heads, the one for mine was 0.6" at 100m http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/279321-steyr-mannlicher-pro-hunter-mountain-223-price-drop-795-ono/ http://www.guntrader.co.uk/Guns-For-Sale/Steyr-Mannlicher_Rifle_Pro-Hunter_For-Sale_130217194855007 Edited February 26, 2013 by markha Quote Link to post
