Draw Cord Thickness??

Im making a 50 yard long net out of a strong but thin spun nylon.

what thickness draw cord would you all use,Ive got 2mm and also

3mm.

your advice would be appreciated thanks.

i would use 3mm for the bottom and 2mm for the top

2mm's is good enough but if its different colours you could use both to tell the difference between top and bottom lines

1.5mm is ample it has a 45kg breaking strain so your not going to snap it yet it is light enough not to bow between the pegs/poles.

thanks for the advice. only cus I've got plenty of 2mm and 3mm think I'll do what

jamesmc suggested 2mm at the top and 3mm at the bottom,

1.5mm braided nylon is fine for running lines.

There are three types of running lines available at the moment. Two nylon and one polypropelene, the polyprop lines are the ones that most net sellers sell with their nets, for one reason only, because it is cheaper than nylon. However, my personal opininon is that it is below the standard acceptable for long net lines. The weave is loose and gets plucked at every opportunity that leaves you with a line that has bubbles in it that stop the net running along it, not to mention weakening the line.

 

The two types of nylon are good lines in that they have a tight weave and do not pluck like the polyprop. But the nylon with a core can be quite heavy and cause the net to sag. IMHO the best lines are the hollow flat nylon braids, they have the same weave as the cored lines but half the weight. Therefor do not sag as the cored lines do.
