Ferreting Some Distance Away

Just sorting out the gear to go ferreting about two hours plus away from the house tomorrow, and i take extra collars ,boxes ,battery's tape etc. but where do you call it do you take two spades etc you really could load the car up so you need a trailer as well ?.

But it's better to have a spare spade in the car than in the shed two hours away, I've always got an extra one in the boot of the car and I carry a spare battery for the locator in my bag, cold weather can have strange effects on battery life and a locator is pointless without power.

i always take a couple of spades nets, longnett spare batterys, tape its always better to have them with you, you dont have to carry them with you just leave them in the car until needed. atb with your day ferreting tomorrow

I regurly ferret/hunt a few hours from home. One good spade and t-bar aswell as the usual spare batteries. I do take a little first aid kit for the dogs though wich has come in handy loads of times.

Not quite. Never got in. Didn't pass medical. Something about an allergy to bees being a liability. I keep my military ties close though and do what I can!

Went lamping one night with the dogs and a lamp....sleeping bag in the back of the van to stay over in a lay by.....

 

Was a good idea at 8pm.....

 

But at 2am....soaking wet....knee deep in cow shiit.....

 

And realising the wet dogs had lay all over our sleeping bags ....

 

We headed back up the road to our beds

 

...but not before getting a stop by the plod
