Hi

My name is Rie and I am from Denmark.

I am not a hunter. I have never been hunting anything in my life except for UK ferrets. :D

I was introduced to this forum by Gary, which by the way has been the most helpful Englishman I have known so far. Always ready to help and answer all of my many questions.

I have had ferrets since april 2004 and now have a breeding of pet ferrets.

We don´t have so many ferrets in Denmark as you have en England. This year you can say we have a lack of ferrets for people.

I hope I can learn a bit more in here about my lovely friends, the ferrets and maybe I one day in here can find a new ferret for breeding.

I have had my trouble with that. (I don´t know why)

The reason why I want English ferrets is because your ferrets live longer than danish ferrets because of very very wrong breeding, so I am now trying to make up for all the bad breeding that has been going on and fight for the ferrets right to get old.

And I attend to win.

Thank you every one. :)

Higgins: I´m am not totally sure what you mean by "do with your ferrets", but since I have told I´m not using them for hunting, I think you mean "what I do with them then".

Corret me if I am wrong.

My ferrets are just pet ferrets. I walk them, plays with them and show them in Denmark and Norway.

I breed them for a better health, the jills to be feminine and the males to be big (but not to big) with a broadly head.

I breed for no marks, because marks (specially head markings) has caused a lot of health problems, deafness amoung them.

I only use polecats, sandy and albino. I try to avoid silver, but if there is a good one with no head markings from UK it might be another story.

My ferrets live indore and outdore.

I try to keep them as close to nature as possible, but I must admid I have one jill, Thora whos father is a wild ferret, who can escape from everywhere. So I keep her indore, just to be sure, after she ran away last time. (She stayed in the garden. She was affraid of the road)

I keep track of my lines. Write down what colours, bithdays, deaths, reason of death and so on in my ferrets ancestors, so I can see if it is a good lineage if loneliving ferrets or if the line should be stopped.

If there is any breeders in here who maybe would like to help me finding UK ferrets for danish breeding please send me an e-mail to ilderfryd@hotmail.com.

Then we can talk about it, and you can ask me questions if there is anything more you would like to know about me, how I keep my ferrets or just about my ferrets.

:signthankspin:
