what does head strong mean?? also he pulls on the lead so bad litterally gets low to the floor and just goes for it if tried many ways to stop him he listens but the just does it agen and agen lol

get a rope lead with a ring in it, use it as a chocker ,, . Just do some heal work with it, jerk it on the lead when it pulls , when it stops give a treat. i had a beddyx and i had the same probs, but to honest i found bullxs were alot easier to train and otherxs, put me off the x,!

wants to do its own thing think it knows better than you they settle at 12/18 months be firm with him but do not hit the dog your tone of voice should be right to do it as for the pulling on the lead choker on it and walk 10 yards if the dog pulls turn and walk in a different way it will soon learn the dogs pulling you were it wants to go you have to teach the dog it is were you want to go not were the dog wants good dogs with the time put in got one my self would not part with him for any other cross %100 every time out will run through a wall for me .atb

They can be headstrong but that's matched with fire so it's a good trade-off imo.

I've seen one beddy X in the park here which is command perfect, but it's timid as anything and TBH I wouldn't want it as a dog.

My mate who trained gundogs was talking about one of his spaniels yesterday. It was a big bugger and evidently on the edge, as in - it would do what he wanted and more, but it wouldn't listen to anyone else. It was evidently so enthusiastic he lost a few trials with it. Not that it wasn't obedient, just that it was a proper working dog which thought things through rather than blindly obeying commands.

I'm learning from my pup (and this forum) - it's a great journey and we both grow together. You NEED patience though, with a lurcher.

Head strong means, they've got a mind of their own, and need firm handling.

Mine was head strong, but she's settled down now at 14months, she's a very quick learner and eager to please, but I've had to have a lot of patience to get her to where she is
