downsouth 7,149
Good to see Bishops Finger and Spitfire getting the thumbs up they are both brewed 4 miles away from me and 7 out of 10 pubs in my area are owned by the same brewery and most of the freehouses sell their beer aswell.I keep telling myself im going to have to get myself used to liking ale as i dont like lager and Guiness is the best part of 4quid a pint everywhere now and a lot of places cant even keep a good pint of it.
forest of dean redneck 11,529
Used to drink hall & wood house range of ales, starting drinking Guinness couple year ago. Now I'm trying to be gluten free I am staying on cider/scrumpy. Years ago I went on Holiday down on the lizard ,and the off licence in Helston did bottles of Newquay steam lager which was refreshing, never seen it again.
willum 89
We've got some good brewery local to us wolf brewery sheep dip and black sheep nice pints golden jackel is a nice summer pint. Woodfords is my choice wherry is a cracking pint old nog is a head cracker though but very easily ploughed through lol Adnams broadside is good but you pay the price on it . We got a local pub that prides its self on all the local micro brewery's has 3 beer fests a year always a good turn out lucky where I live 40 min from Adnams 25 min from green king n the same for wolf brewery and woodfords and aspal cider is about half hour away never have been one for larger prefer a bottle of corona to fosters Stella or other lagers . If not has to be Guinness . Mates all take the piss out of me but been drinking it since I was in my late teens

The Duncan 802
Real ale is fine and dandy, real ale bores are something else entirely. I once didn't partake in a car share scheme that would have halved my fuel expenditure, because it meant spending 90 minutes a day in the enforced close company of a confirmed real ale bore. Yeh know what you mean once got one latched on to me in a pub in beverley [nellies] typical stereotype bearded. pipe smoker, corduroy trousers, green speckley socks, jesus that guy could talk a glass eye to sleep, going on about specific gravity ect, after about 3 pints he shoved one finger in his ear, and started singing sea shantys, christ couldnt get away fast enough.
