Guest joe ox
I have mentioned this before, times are not as hard as say 20 year ago when there was a lot of unemployment not as much money about and men relied on there lurchers and catches for money. Quote Link to post
Snelly 0
I have never come remotely close to 100 rabbits in a night and have had decent dogs on permission that holds the rabbits to potentially go for that number. I am not saying that it isn't possible but I am saying that I would not run my dog that hard as in my view it's not sensible in the majority of cases - just my opinion of course. I am sure that from time to time, on perfect ground and in perfect conditions, it is achievable but I struggle to see those circumstances coming around very often. I am happy to be put right by those more experienced than I on this subject though... And in answer to the question, I am a fence sitter, happy with either dog, if they exist..... lucky 578
i remember me and some friends going out lamping and killing 111 rabbits in the night, but that was with 2 lamps and 4 dogs, 1 bullcross, 1 saluki greyhound (daytime dog), and 2 of unknown breeding. i thought that was a great acheivement even with 4 dogs. i remember another mate (he's on this site) asking us to drop him a couple off when we got back, i can still imagine the look on his face when he opened the front door the next morning to find all of them on his doorstep...lol. the land we were lamping though holds loads and there very very easy to catch i have had nearly 30 on their with a first cross bull greyhound, on a few occassions i've had around 30 with different crosses, most of which did'nt retrieve and it's mostly me that has give in, not the dogs, because i can only go fetch and carry so many...lol Quote Link to post

jpt 284
I would probably choose the 100 rabbit catching dog. The 6 in 6 hare dog would definatley be somthing special but the stamina of a dog needed to catch 100 bunnys in 1 night! Mind you I have seen hares run and not caught so to catch 6 out of 6 would be amazing. JPT Quote Link to post
